Armstrong World Industries
Rigorous reporting, clear enough for everyone
The science behind sustainable buildings, simply explained
Armstrong World Industries has spent decades tracking how its materials are sourced, reused, and carried forward. Our job was making that reporting easier to follow—and far more compelling to read.
We pulled stories out of the company’s history and recent reporting data: its origins as a Pittsburgh bottle cork shop; manufacturing scrap turned into colorful partitions; ceiling tiles made from burned corn stalks and agricultural waste.
We reorganized the reporting around each story so readers could better understand what the material was, what it became, and the work it took to get there.
(For the record, we lobbied hard for the title “From Corn Husks and Cork Dust.”)
